Carleton and the Local Area ...

Carleton-in-Craven is an historic mill village situated on the outskirts of Skipton, with the town visable across the valley. With its own local pub serving evening meals, Sub-Post Office, Pharmacy and lovely village stream running through the oldest part of the village.

Steeped in history, Carleton has some lovely, local walks, which will take you around the village, its surrounding hills and on into Skipton.  Being so handy, you can leave the car behind and take the public footpath across open fields, savouring the sights and sounds as you go , crossing the bridge and on into the town. On a clear day the views will stretch from Malhamdale right across Skipton and the Aire valley - absolutely fantastic!

Hourly buses run back and forth into the village from Skipton.

Details of the walk to Skipton taking between 30 - 45 mins (depending on your pace) are kept here at Poppy Cottage along with pathfinders of the local area.

Venturing further by car we are just a 10 minute drive into the Yorkshire Dales National Park with Grassington & Malham just 10 miles away. Travelling east we are 6 miles from Bolton Abbey and 22 miles away from Harrogate. Heading south we are only 10 miles from Haworth, Worth Valley and Bronte country. All lovely drives taking you through some stunning Yorkshire Dales countryside.
