Pig update ....

Well the day has come and we have waved goodbye to our 2 pigs today - 27th July 2010 - now in the very capable hands of our butcher friend. 

 "We will miss you but are comforted that we gave you a lovely time here in our field.  We know you enjoyed all the fresh fruit and sunshine xx".

          Thankyou - 'Bacon and Sausage' for being our first pigs.

'Ode to Piggies' - written by a previous guest

There are two piggies at Poppy Cottage,
Playing in a pen,
One day they'll pass the butchers
And they won't be seen again!      
 
Foraging in the dirt and soil,
Oblivious to their fate,
Little do they realise
They'll end up on a plate.   
 
They've been bought in for the business,
All sympathy forsaken,
Those two cute little piggies
Will be sausages or bacon !!
 
The 'happy hens', they roam around
We eat their daily 'hatchings'
But those little piggies will soon be chops
Or even worse 'pork scratchings' !!!! 
 
A 'rasher' decision could not be made
The piggies have to go,
But we'll still come and visit
Because we love it so.
