Poppy Cottage Food...

In May 2010 we were awarded the 'Enjoy England Breakfast Award' and are proud to be members of deleciouslyorkshire, serving locally sourced Yorkshire produce along with our own bacon and sausage for breakfast.  We use our own fresh free range eggs with their gorgeous 'yellow yolks' or local fresh farm eggs, when our girls aren't laying!

At Breakfast time...

  • Come down to breakfast and wake up your taste buds with a citrus fruit salad or enjoy a 'fruity' yoghurt pot with homemade granola.
  • Help yourselves to cereals and fruit juices from the dresser, or maybe a bowl of 'creamy' porridge, made with oats and milk soaked overnight to make it extra delicious!
  • Don't overfill though as we serve a hearty 'Yorkshire Breakfast' cooked to your liking using our own sausage and bacon (vegetarian sausage and bacon available) and served with our  fresh free range eggs.
  • For something different, we serve scrambled eggs with salmon & chives or maybe you might fancy one of Steve's 'huge' pancakes with a variety of toppings available from the dresser.
  • Pots of Yorkshire tea or freshly brewed coffee will accompany your breakfast, along with racks of toast with real butter and homemade jams and preserves.
  • Continental Breakfast option available.

...Or for something a little bit special!
Celebrate a 'special occasion' with a 'champagne breakfast'.
You bring the champagne and we will serve the rest!  Speak to Sally to pre-book
  • To start, enjoy fresh fruit salad with your champagne and orange juice.  For an added indulgence add in some chocolate!
  • Then choose from either smoked salmon bagels or light pastries with hams and cheeses.
  • Toast with butter and our homemade jam and preserves.
  • All served on a tray, in the luxury of your room, with pots of freshly made coffee or tea,  what could be nicer?

Our Rescue Hens...

We currently have 8 ex-battery/rescue hens who joined our other girls in December 2010.  In January 2011 we are collecting a further 6 from the British Hen Welfare Trust  www.bhwt.org.uk  who re-home commercial laying hens after their 2 years of egg production.  They have to date re-homed over 250,00 battery hens.  After they have become accustomed to their new surroundings it is lovely to see them stretching their wings and exploring their new surroundings after being in cages for their first two years.  Their diet then becomes a lot more organic, feeding on the worms and insects along with their daily corn and not forgetting the left over fruit and veg from the kitchen!  It really shows in the eggs which are a lovely golden colour.

With views across into Skipton and the hills and open countryside to the rear this really is a lovely place to watch the 'girls' going about their daily business!
