Access Statement

Introduction
Poppy Cottage Guest House and Ivy Cottage Farm are situated at the entrance to Carleton Village (Carleton-in-Craven) on the approach from Skipton. The house is on the left hand side of the main street. It is a long, garden fronted building in an elevated position and is constructed of stone with a stone slate roof.  All our bedrooms are on the first floor and are not suitable for wheelchair users.

Pre-arrival
Guests may arrive after 2pm or earlier if pre-arranged. It is recommended that guests inform us of any special needs that they might have when making an enquiry or booking.  Please advise us of your anticipated arrival time this will ensure that we are here to welcome you and give assistance where necessary with your luggage.

Arrival and car parking facilities
There is good visible signage to the front of the property identifying the drive which is over a cattle grid with a side pedestrian entrance.  When you go up the tarmac drive, Ivy Cottage Farm with 4 parking bays is on your right. We have well-lit private parking and undercover garaging for cycles. If you have not been greeted at this point please use the knocker on the large green IVY COTTAGE FARM door.  You will then be escorted to your accommodation which is located in the cottage. The external access is along a concrete path which is 80cm wide at it's narrowest point and is a walk of approximately 40 meters which includes a short incline and 3 steps, each step is 16cm high.
The entrance door which is 80cm wide and has a 2cm threshold into the entrance lobby which has a hard wearing floor covering.

We would kindly ask guests to respect our neighbours' privacy and try to keep within our forecourt area when using the car park and drive. Thank you for your co-operation.

Guest Accommodation - Ground Floor
The Ground floor is accessed via the entrance lobby, then up a small step of 4cm into the hallway which leads to the stairs which are carpeted and 76cm wide and fitted with a handrail. The hallway also leads to the:

Lounge
This room has a wood burning stove, Yorkshire stone flagged floor and an oak beamed ceiling. 
Access to the private cottage garden is from the lounge through patio doors, over a 7cm threshold, onto timber decking with seating areas.  This area is well lit and is strictly non-smoking, however we do have a secluded patio with seating for people who wish to smoke.  This will be detailed to guests upon request.

Dining Room
This room, accessed from the lounge through a 76cm wide door, is a period room with oak beams, Yorkshire stone flagged floor, large inglenook fireplace with stove.
The main house (Ivy Cottage Farm) is accessed from this room through an internal private door.

Guest Accommodation - First Floor

The Bedrooms
We have three en-suite bedrooms and they are located off the first floor landing through doors of 70cm wide. One room has a king size bed, one room has a double and the other has twin beds.
There is also a pull out single bed and a travel cot available.

Additional Information
We are competent with fire regulations and there are fire extinguishers situated on both floors. We are also proficient with food handling and are both awarded with Level II in Food Safety in Catering.  Radio linked smoke alarms are fitted in all rooms.
